Dennis Erickson Named Head Coach at Idaho

The University of Idaho introduced Dennis Erickson as their new head football coach on Wednesday.

"I'm excited to be back in the state and around these people I've known for a long time," Erickson said. "There aren't many times you have an opportunity to come back and finish where you started."

In 1982, Erickson began his long head coaching career at the University of Idaho.

Pick Six: Mid-Major Hopefuls of 2006

Sure, not being in a mid-major conference makes things tough to reach one of those hefty payout, prime time BCS bowl games. But it's been done before: in 2004 with Urban Meyer's Utah Utes, and even TCU had a solid shot last season with an 11-1 final record. While these teams will have a huge mountain to climb if they are going to make some BCS noise, the addition of an extra BCS championship game, means two more open spots for that mid-major Cinderella. So who has the best chance at wearing the glass slipper in 2006?
