Early 2006 Top 25 Poll

The 2006 NCAA season may be seven months away, but its never too early to begin looking at 2006. Spring practices kick-off in March and April, but Football.com has you covered until then. How about an early look at 2006? The Ohio State Buckeyes start atop the early 2006 poll, but that can change after spring practices and injuries. The Buckeyes start number one, thanks to a strong offense, led by senior quarterback Troy Smith and receiver Ted Ginn Jr. The Buckeyes defense has some holes to fill, but if they can find players to fit their scheme, then expect the Buckeyes to be playing for a national championship. Texas and USC are likely to see a slip in their win totals, as both will miss their top players from this year's team. Want a team to watch? Football.com believes Florida State and Auburn are sleepers for 2006.

Football.com will continue to update our top 25 throughout spring practices.
