NFC East Roundup

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys must improve at offensive tackle next season to take the next step and become a playoff tem. Torrin Tucker and Rob Petitti were woeful in 2005 and credited with giving up 26 sacks. With those numbers, the 'Boys two wayward tackles should head south and start suiting up for the Texans. Flozell Adams will be back in 2006 after knee surgery and he should be an immediate improvement. That said, Dallas will need to find another tackle in free agency or the draft if they want Drew Bledsoe to play at a higher level in 2006.

New York Giants

One of the Giants' most underrated players, linebacker Nick Greisen, may be suiting up in a different zip code next year. Greisen got a lot of playing time last season after injuries decimated the Giants' linebacking corps and he played well enough to get noticed around the league. Greisen reportedly would like to be a starting middle linebacker and with Antonio Pierce firmly entrenched in New York, that is just not an option. Look for Minnesota, where new head coach Brad Childress became very familiar with Greisen as Philadelphia's offensive coordinator, to make a move early in free agency on Greisen.

Philadelphia Eagles

As usual Terrell Owens is the headline in Philly but now it's all about how the Birds will replace T.O. The Eagles are high on Reggie Brown who had a solid, if unspectacular rookie season and are convinced the former Georgia star could develop into a competent number two receiver, Todd Pinkston will also be back after missing all of 2005 with a ruptured Achilles' but Pinkston was never more than a borderline number two before the injury. Free agency is thin. Reggie Wayne projects as a number one on some teams but it now looks like the Colts will do everything to keep him while Pittsburgh's Antwaan Randle-El is certainly a gamebreaker, I have yet to talk with one scout or personnel guy who thinks the former Indiana quarterback could hold up as a guy expected to catch 90 balls per season.

Washington Redskins

Mark Brunell was banged up quite a bit last year and will be 36 next season so the 'Skins must think long and hard about his eventual replacement. After using a first round selection on Auburn's Jason Campbell in the 2005 draft, you have to believe the team wants him to succeed but Campbell was never able to shake Patrick Ramsey on the depth chart last year. Campbell will be given every chance to take over as Brunell's caddy in 2006 and that would almost guarantee, at least some playing time. Washington believes that Campbell has the physical skills and more importantly, the intelligence to excel but, like any young quarterback, he will need experience.
